Eat a ButterTart like a Man Contest at the Red Deer Home Show.

Pearson’s Berry Farm in support of the Red Deer Women’s Shelter is running the first ever ‘Eat a Butter Tart like a Man’ contest for local media celebrities.

Pearson’s Berry Farm is offering their World Famous ButterTarts free to media celebrities that visit their booth at the Red Deer Home Show on March 16-18.  Media personnel will agree to eat the World Famous Buttertart as they get video recorded for judging.  Judging requirements will be based on the late Peter Gzowski’s  ‘What makes a great ButterTart?’ criteria. ‘What makes a great ButterTart’ was aired on CBC radio on December 5, 1991.Buttertart

Pearson’s Berry Farm owner and ButterTart Specialist – Duane Mertin will be donating twenty five dollars for every World Famous ButterTart that a media celebrity eats when entering this contest. Anna Robertshaw from the Central Alberta Women’s Emergency Shelter stated ‘This is awesome; we welcome this type of promotion and are willing to help Pearson’s and fully endorse this great event.”

Duane and his wife Debbie have been baking ButterTarts for over 10 years from their Saskatoon Berry Orchard home west of Bowden.  The World Famous ButterTarts come in the traditional Raisin flavour, as well as specialty flavours using real fruit.  Flavours include Saskatoon Berry, CranBerry and Coconut.

Entry for the  ‘Eat a Butter Tart like a Man’ contest is open to any media celebrity from Red Deer and surrounding regions.  This includes radio DJ’s and reporters, newspaper writers and TV reporters. Entrants can  stop down at the Pearson’s Berry Farm booth during the Red Deer Home Show (March 16-18) to enter.  They will be given a ButterTart  and will be video recorded for later judging.

Pearson’s Berry Farm would like to thank all local media outlets and the media celebrities that enter the ‘Eat a Butter Tart like a Man’ contest.  They are eager to have many entrants so they can help out the Central Alberta Woman’s Emergency Shelter with a healthy donation.
